Piper PA22-108 Colt handicap control

This is a picture of the hand control installed in the Piper PA22-108 Colt. With this control a pilot can control the rudders. Typically a pilot will control the rudders and brakes with legs and feet. A pilot without the use of lower extremities can fly this aircraft safely. The Colt is perfectly designed for the mission as a training aircraft in that the brakes are actuated by the "Johnson bar" by hand under the instrument panel. With the handicap controls, all cockpit controls can be operated by hand.
